FAI Youths Cup:
Hanover Harps 2 - 1 Evergreen Athletic 1, AET
A tough day today for our Under 18 A team. The first half was played against a very strong wind but that didn’t prevent our boys creating two excellent chances and on top of that our defence stood strong, giving away nothing to see the score 0 - 0 at half time.
Two minutes into the 2nd half and a Sam Navatril rocket from outside the area put us a deserved 1 goal ahead. Hanover came back into the game scoring on 66 minutes, a flick on from a free kick found its way into the corner of the net. This left the score 1-1 at full time. 2 minutes into extra time and Hanover score to take the lead, unfortunately for our lads they managed to hold on despite intense Evergreen pressure and it wasn't to be for our boys with the game ending 2-1 to the home side.
A fantastic display in a tough wind. This team has plenty to play for this season. Best of luck to Hanover in the rest of the competition. 🍀⚽️
